Gele, pronounced Geh-Leh, is a cloth head tie traditionally worn by Yoruba women but adopted by many other tribes. It’s a symbol of social status and importance. It’s quite a spectacle to tie one of these too, lol it takes a skilled individual. I remember waiting forever for my mother to get hers done just for her to stroll in the party looking flyer than ever.
