My name is Gbemisola Johnson and I am a mixed-media visual artist. Gbemisola, means carry me up into honor in Yoruba. I was born in London, England and grew up in a Nigerian household with 2 wonderful parents, 3 supporting brothers and 1 angel for a little brother. During my childhood I received endless support as I expressed my creativity on the walls of my bedroom, as I hosted plays and through my role in the orchestra as a violinist. My creativity stems from my love for music, color, food, and the connection I feel between the 3. Music moves through my hips and the outcome through each creation surprises me each time. I’m always jamming out when I paint, and you can guarantee that if I’m painting and jamming I’ve paired it with a culinary creation. The manifestation of my spiritual journey through the colors I throw on the canvas and the objects I add to each piece simply makes me happy. I want nothing more than to be able to provide that happiness for everyone who owns a piece of my journey.
My passion for the human body through art is much deeper than a canvas and paint. I am a resident Physician in the beginning of my career and love connecting with patients to help them optimize their health. Im currently studying the positive effects of Art Therapy on decreasing acute stress in participants. With the help of my products, I plan on using art expression as a form of therapy for my patients in many different forms. Medicine is truly an art and my art is my medicine.
