I graduated Family Medicine Residency and will be starting in an outpatient clinic in the fall! Bring on the Attending art vibes!

Meet the Artist

I believe our energy carries us further in life than our words or actions ever could. The vibe we emit is how we present our gift to the world. I have found passion in the expression of positive energy through contemporary creations.

My name is Gbemisola Johnson, and I am a mixed-media visual artist and physician. In Yoruba, Gbemisola means “carry me up into honor” a name that has guided my journey as both healer and creator. I was born in London, England, and raised in a Nigerian household filled with love, faith, and the unwavering support of my parents and three brothers (with one angel brother watching over me). From childhood, creativity was my language, whether painting bedroom walls, hosting plays, or playing violin in orchestra. My love for music, color, food, and the connection between them still drives my art today. If I’m painting, I’m usually jamming out and cooking up something vibrant to match.

Now, as a Board Certified Family Medicine physician in outpatient practice, I continue to weave art into healing. My work in medicine emphasizes holistic, lifestyle-based care, empowering patients to see health as a balance of body, mind, and spirit. I’ve found art to be a powerful form of therapy, not only for stress relief but also as a pathway to joy and resilience. In my medical practice, I focus on approaching healing with both precision and creativity.

In 2024, I hosted my first solo art show, a milestone that affirmed my belief that medicine and art are inseparable parts of my purpose. I’m also developing an art therapy line, tools and creations designed to make healing through art accessible to everyone, whether they see me in clinic or discover me through my artwork.

For me, medicine is an art, and art is my medicine. Through each canvas, each product, and each patient connection, I hope to share the energy, joy, and healing that guide my life.
